With how often we use our washers and dryers it is no wonder that they will eventually go out on us. The incredible thing about most of these problems is, they are almost always our own fault. Many times things that we put in our washer and dryers will lead to things getting stuck, over-heated or over worked. Each of these issues can lead to washer and dryer repair. So when you are doing anything in your washer and/or dryer you will want to make sure of a few different things. One of these is that you aren’t overfilling the washer or dryer. Having too much weight in one of these machines can simply make it work too hard and burn the motor out. You will also need to watch what is is you are putting in the washer and dryer. Check all of the pockets of the pants and shirts before you put them in. Change, pens, paper clips, hair ties and almost anything small enough to fit in a pocket could lead to major problems with your washer or dryer.
These small items could also actually be smaller pieces of laundry. Things like bras, small socks, and any other tiny piece of clothing that you are going to try and wash should be put in a laundry safe bag, with a tie on it. This will prevent these pieces to get into the inner workings of a washer and/or dryer. When something like these pieces do get into the motor or other part of the appliances they can very easily overheat it. When this happens many times you will have to replace the motor. Every once in a while you may want to check the motor and the rest of your washer and dryer for objects that could eventually cause a problems.
Cleaning out your entire machine shouldn’t be hard and it will avoid the need for any washer and dryer repair down the road. You will need to start by taking the encasing off of the machine. Normally this is done by two to four screws on the back of the unit. Once the encasing is off you can poke around a little bit for any potential problems. You should also probably remove the drum as well. This will make it easier on you and allow you to be more thorough with your cleaning.
While you are cleaning your washer and dryer, you should also clean out the lint trap on your dryer and the vent as well. To do this you can just use a long brush. Simply remove your lint trap, clean it out with water and soap. Then use the brush to clean out the area the trap was in. Then also remove the connecting hose from the vent and clean it out as well. This can keep your dryer from overheating in the future and steer you away from washer and dryer repair issues.
